This position provides planned, organized and developmentally appropriate activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth and development for children from birth through school age within the philosophy of the Day Nursery of Abilene, Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers and Texas Rising Star Provider criteria. Qualifications: (Education & Experience) At least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED Two years previous experience in a regulated child care center or 24 clock hours of training or 24 hours of pre-service training for child care; 8 of which must be prior to being responsible for a group of children. The remaining 16 hours must be completed within the first 90 days of employment Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate within two weeks after onboarding Current competency in infant/child CPR and First Aid with rescue breathing. Must pass a drug test, criminal history check, and pass an FBI fingerprint check (no convictions for any felony offenses, misdemeanor offenses classified against person or family, public indecency, or the Texas Controlled Substance Act) No convictions for any felony or misdemeanor offenses classified as being against persons or family, as public indecency, or being under the Texas Controlled Substance Act. Display workplace behavior that maintains a functional and productive environment. Model professionalism by appropriate dress and language. Work within a teamwork concept to promote the mission and goals of the Day Nursery. Measurable position outcomes Coordinate and immediately communicate significant information related to the children in care to relief and supervisory staff for quality service delivery. Communicate with parents on a daily basis (activities and accomplishments of each child) and be tactful when having to communicate negative information. Maintain appropriate safe and quality learning environment Submit, follow and implement weekly lesson plans to Day Nursery director, according to Day Nursery curriculum and the required daily schedule. Actively supervise (through engagement and positive interactions) assigned children at all times, engaging in appropriate adult to child interactions. Maintains Developmental Checklist on each child enrolled in the classroom and communicate each child s progress as appropriate. Assure fiscal responsibility and management of resources of time, supplies and equipment. Perform other duties related to the Day Nursery as assigned by the supervisor.
