Job Opportunity Taylor County is currently seeking qualified applicants for Facility Administrator/Deputy Chief of Secure Facilities in the Taylor Juvenile Detention Facility. Functions under the direct, daily supervision of the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer. This position is responsible for oversight of the daily operations of the Taylor County Detention Center. Duties include ensuring appropriate staffing ratios, evaluating staff performance, regular review of and adherence to policy and procedures, ensuring compliance with the Texas Juvenile Justice Department standards, and federal PREA guidelines. Position requires being on call after regular business hours, conducting unannounced visits at the facility, and consistently conducting regular staff meetings and staff training. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be dually certified as a juvenile supervision officer and juvenile probation officer. Possess a considerable knowledge of the Texas Family Code, Texas Penal Code, department policy, county policy and procedures of laws and regulations relating to probation services, adolescent behavior, and concepts of delinquent behavior. Ability to function effectively, professionally and patiently in crisis or stressful situations and strictly adhere to the Texas Juvenile Justice Code of Ethics. Qualified applicants must have a minimum of a bachelor s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Sociology or a related field is preferred. A minimum of 5 years supervisory/administrative experience, investigative experience, and familiarity with juvenile correctional facilities, juvenile law, and the juvenile justice system. Must be eligible for employment/certification in accordance with TAC 341.40 &41. No criminal history, no sex offender registration, Must consent to and pass TDFPS background check as outlined in federal PREA guidelines. Must have a valid Texas Driver s license and be a US citizen.
